Made for the opening it encloses
Zipscreen is specifically designed to enclose alfresco entertaining areas, patios, balconies and verandahs, and it looks great against windows. The ‘zLOCK’ technology locks the fabric into a patented side-channel design, so the blind holds taut.
Each Zipscreen is specified for the opening. Size, fabric and operation need to be considered together, so we confirm the suitable configuration at the measure.

Developed by Rollease Acmeda, with the box, rails and components designed with a European finish to suit the latest contemporary exterior architecture of Australian homes.
Operation
Zipscreen Blinds come standard with a manual spring-loaded operation. You also have the option of a manual crank function or a Somfy or Acmeda motor with remote control. Combine with the Automate Hub to control your blinds using your mobile phone, timers or sun sensors.
Fabric
Choose 1% openness mesh, 5% openness mesh or PVC. All mesh options allow you to see through the Zipscreen; 1% openness mesh has a tighter weave, which will block out more view, sunlight, wind and rain. 5% openness mesh is the most popular option. PVC is completely see-through, but does need frequent cleaning.
Headbox and colour
The 125mm square box is significantly smaller and neater than the other options on the market. You can also choose to have enclosed head-box covers or hoods, as well as a variety of custom powder-coated colours to match and complement any home or building.

See it lowered and raised
At each side of the blind is an inner and outer channel that attaches to a post or wall, which the fabric slides down and is captured within the channel.
A powder coated bottom rail is also attached to the fabric curtain and can be fitted with a bumper strip or fabric flap for larger gaps and on uneven surfaces. An integrated feeding funnel and hidden top stop ensure the fabric remains held in the channels.
Zipscreen or Ziptrak®?
Both are track-guided outdoor blinds with the fabric held in side channels, in mesh or PVC, with custom powder-coated colours. The main differences are the headbox shape, the channelling system and the hold-down locks. See the range of options at our display centre in Campbelltown.

Limits to know before you choose
- Wind. Zipscreen Blinds are wind resistant, however they are not designed to stop strong winds. It is recommended that the blinds be raised during strong winds or storms as they can damage your blind.
- Gas barbecues. Zipscreen Blinds should be installed or raised to ensure at least 25% of the total wall space in the outdoor area remains open, and raised whenever a gas appliance is operating. Only a licensed gas fitter can provide definitive advice on compliance.
- Size. The available size depends on the system, fabric, operation, fixing and exposure. We confirm the suitable configuration when we measure your opening.
- Clear PVC. PVC is completely see-through, but does need frequent cleaning.

What's the difference between Zipscreen and Ziptrak?

How much do Zipscreen outdoor blinds cost?
On average, Zipscreen Outdoor Blinds cost between $800 to $1,700. For larger areas over 5 metres wide, motorised Zipscreen Extreme can cost between $3,000 to $4,000.
What are the maximum dimensions for a Zipscreen blind?
The manufacturer lists some Zipscreen configurations up to 7 metres wide and 5 metres in drop. The available size depends on the system, fabric, operation, fixing and exposure. We confirm the suitable configuration when we measure your opening.
Can Zipscreen blinds stop strong winds?

Can you see through Zipscreen blinds?

Can Zipscreen blinds be installed in alfresco areas with gas barbecues, and are there any ventilation requirements?
Zipscreen blinds can be a great addition to alfresco areas, but it’s essential to ensure proper ventilation for safety. When using plumbed-in gas barbecues, Australian Standards (AS/NZS 5601.1) require sufficient airflow to prevent the buildup of harmful gases like carbon monoxide.
The standards do not explicitly address blinds or other removable coverings, so definitive advice on their impact is not provided. However, to maintain ventilation, Zipscreen Blinds should be installed or raised to ensure at least 25% of the total wall space in the outdoor area remains open.
For additional safety, we recommend installing a carbon monoxide detector. Furthermore, whenever operating a gas appliance, such as a barbecue, outdoor blinds should always be raised to ensure adequate ventilation.
Please note, while these recommendations reflect best practices, only a licensed gas fitter can provide definitive advice on compliance with building and safety regulations for your alfresco area.
